Les Saintes, Gouadeloupe (France)
Already at 7am we left Dominica behind us, moving on from rain forest to
beaches. It is hard to believe that we really haven't seen those white large
Caribbean beaches. Most of the islands were created through vulcanoes and have
mostly steep cliffs and only little beaches which have dark sand.
Les Saintes is a small group of islands, south of Gouadeloupe. They are small,
dry and steep with mountains climbing to over 1000 feet and white beaches
abound. 2000 inhabitants share the main island, Terre d'en Haut. Bourg des
Saintes is the small village here, there are only a few streets, but lots of
boutiques, bars, restaurants and shops, all in a very small street which gives
this villages a special charm
Here is where we will end 2008 and start the New Year.
Those picture show our anchorage:

Our afternoon was dedicated to water sports. We put the Walker Bay in the water
and we were busy sailing.
The blue clear water invited for a swim and Mathias and Niklas played
monkeys and jumped off the boat with a rope.
