MARTINIQUE
Today was boat and dinghy cleaning day. Due to the very dirty water in the
Rodney Bay Marina the boat and dinghy are extremely dirty, full of algae, and
need a good scrub. This took more than half a day and we were still not done,
but too tired to continue.
In the afternoon we visited a small village called Ste. Anne, about a 15min
dinghy ride away from here.
It so reminds us of Southern France - it is unbelievable.

Martinique has 400.000 inhabitants, is 420 square miles big ( 47 miles long and
22 miles across), and although it is 4,400 miles away from France it still
belongs to France. The currency here is Euro which makes it quite expensive for
us..
The highest mountain is Mount Pele with 4,260 ft. The humid tropical maritime
climate brings an all year-round average temperature of 77 F, which is what we
have right now. Even a little more during the day but it cools down nicely at
night.
During Christmas time there are the traditional "Christmas Winds", which means
for us we will stay here for a few days because the next crossing over to
Dominica is about 60 miles and we certainly don't want to do that in such strong
winds and waves.
