Birthday and Pigeon Island
Today is my birthday, it is Sunday and no school. So we decided to make an
excursion to Pigeon Island. Here is the historic national landmark Pigeon Point
and the national park Pigeon
Island, formerly an island, but today connected with the mainland. The 3 sqkm
island was a poste during the time of war between the French and the British.
There are ruins, canons and a fort, called Fort Rodney. It was named after a
famous British admiral, who took over control of this part of the Caribbean in
1782.
We
climbed up the mountain to this fort. The way was quite an adventure as it went
over boulders and rocks, fun stuff. But we certainly were rewarded with a great
view. To the North we could see Martinique, around was was Rodney Bay with its
blue waters and to the South we could see the Twin Pitons.
"Sunnyboy"

We found a different way down,
leading
us through some wilderness.
